I'll be giving a powerpoint presentation on a cruise, using my Dell laptop. It occurred to me I might need some kind of adaptor or cord to plug my laptop into equipment on board- For people who have used their Dell to give laptops, what additional adapters or chords did you need and use?
Thanks! How much do vga cords go for? $ 300? Can I get them at bestbuy?

It depends entirely on the display device. What inputs does it have?

Before you jump the gun, can’t you contact someone from the cruise and ask what you need to provide. VGA cables are cheap ($ 20 – $ 50?) and it might not hurt to bring one along – but you’d still want to know how long a cable to have. Or, they may prefer you use DVI (if your laptop is new, you probably have VGA and DVI outputs). You may need an adapter more than a cable.

I don’t know how much presenting you typically do, but I would definitely recommend a wireless PowerPoint remote controller. That way, no matter where your computer ends up in the room, you have control over it. And bring backup batteries for it.

Just don’t forget the power supply!!
